Food therapy

What it is
About food therapy
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, foods are classified by qualities such as warming or cooling and by how they're thought to affect digestion — traditional concepts, not biomedical nutrition science. Food recommendations are individualized: depending on your presentation, Dr. Kristina may discuss food choices as part of a broader TCM treatment plan. There's no one-size-fits-all diet.
What to expect
You'll leave visits with a few specific, doable suggestions — for example, favoring warm cooked breakfasts, adjusting meal timing, or emphasizing certain foods. At follow-ups, Dr. Kristina asks what you tried and what was hard, then adjusts.

Safety
Food therapy complements — never replaces — medical nutrition therapy. If you have diabetes, kidney disease, food allergies, an eating disorder history or other medical dietary needs, your physician or dietitian's guidance comes first.
FAQ
Food therapy questions
Is this an elimination diet?
No. The focus is on sustainable additions and adjustments, not strict restriction.
Are there foods everyone should eat?
No. Food recommendations are individualized. Depending on your presentation, Dr. Kristina may discuss food choices as part of a broader TCM treatment plan — there are no universal rules like 'everyone should eat more red meat' or 'sour foods detox the liver.'
Is TCM food therapy scientifically proven?
TCM food classifications (warming, cooling and so on) are traditional concepts, not biomedical nutrition science. Dr. Kristina uses them to tailor practical suggestions, and your physician's or dietitian's guidance comes first for medical dietary needs.
