Internal medicine: whole-body concerns

Beyond pain and fertility, people seek acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine support for concerns such as sleep, stress, digestion, headaches, cycles and fatigue.

Concerns people commonly bring

In TCM, 'internal medicine' means care for the body's systems rather than a single area of pain. This is not a list of diseases acupuncture treats — evidence varies by concern.
  • Digestive

Bloating, irregularity, nausea and stress-related digestive symptoms — after appropriate medical evaluation.

  • Sleep

Trouble falling or staying asleep, early waking and sleep disrupted by stress, pain or night sweats.

  • Stress

Ongoing tension, irritability and feeling 'wired but tired' — with attention to sleep, schedule and lifestyle.

  • Headaches

Tension-type headaches and migraine prevention, where research is comparatively stronger.

  • Menstrual & hormonal

Cycle-related symptoms, perimenopause and menopause — alongside your OB-GYN or medical provider.

  • Fatigue

Low energy that hasn't been explained by a medical cause, approached as part of the whole pattern. See your doctor first for new or severe fatigue.

  • Respiratory

Some people seek TCM support for recurrent or seasonal respiratory symptoms. Anything persistent or severe needs medical care first; we work alongside it.

  • Other whole-body concerns

Many people come in with several connected symptoms. Dr. Kristina looks at the full pattern rather than one symptom at a time.

How Dr. Kristina approaches it

One person, many connected symptoms

Your first consultation covers your main concern plus sleep, digestion, stress, energy and cycles. Dr. Kristina identifies a TCM pattern, explains it in plain language, and recommends a plan that may include acupuncture, other treatment tools and individualized food and lifestyle suggestions.

Care is reassessed as you go — often about a month in — and adjusted to how you respond. For an honest look at the evidence for each concern, see the research library.
