Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a form of alternative medicine in which very thin needles are inserted into the body at various points to help treat numerous health conditions.
How does it work?
Western Medical explanation: Upon the insertion of an acupuncture needle, the needle itself causes a biological response to the body which in return sends neurotransmitters to the CNS. This allows for endorphins, dopamine, and opiod peptides to be released making us “feel good” and painfree.
Traditional Chinese Medicine explanation: It is believed that disease is caused by the disruption of the flow of energy (also known as Qi) in the body. Acupuncture is used to stimulate certain points on the body to balance and harmonize the energy (Qi) of the meridians in the body which in return creates homeostasis.
